A groundbreaking achievement is being made with the release of the Seiko SSK series of watches. Prior to this, there has not been an affordable GMT option on the market. Seiko has ingeniously refitted their popular 4R36 movement to remove the day of week indication, and in its place (with extra gearing) install a GMT hand. This new movement, the 4R34, has a GMT hand revolves once a day, in one hour increments as read off the GMT (24 hour) scale. So now, at a glance, you can track a 2nd time zone.
The SSK series is the same familiar form factor as the 5KX series of watches. Except now, we have a true bi-directional bezel without ratcheting. Water resistance is the same at 100 meters, and the crown is push pull. A hardlex crystal protects the dial.
